Rooted in Legacy

Founded in 1913, Macedonia Baptist Church is one of the oldest Baptist Churches in the state of New York. Since our founding we have promoted the motto, “Where everybody is Somebody and Christ is All!”
For over 110 years we have continued bringing the light of God to the Mount Vernon Community — developing members through the Word, impacting lives through faith, service, and scholarship.

Darren M. Morton

Dr. Darren M. Morton is the 7th Pastor and religious leader of Macedonia Baptist Church in Mount Vernon, New York — where he received his own conversion and baptism. His love of God brought him to the pulpit in 1994 under the tutelage of Rev. Dr. Richard H. Dixon, Jr., and he was ordained in 1997.
Dr. Morton has dedicated his personal and professional life to the service of others. He personifies the Christian ideals of equality and justice — applying deep expertise in executive leadership, management, and community advocacy to God’s people in the city where he was born and raised.
Bringing his strategic planning background to the pastorate, Dr. Morton transformed Macedonia into a flourishing, financially stable, growing faith-based enterprise — including the Community Empowerment Corporation, After-School Program, and the Exodus Mentoring Program for young men ages 8–18.
